Border Compassion – Cobina Posada del Migrante Shelter

Several members of Beatitudes joined a cross-over to offer Capacitar Trauma Healing self-practices and will return again. We have donated to this non-profit, faith-based, grassroots effort that responds to the needs of families who have migrated to the USA border crossing at Calexico/ Mexicali. The mission of Border Compassion is to invite faith-communities to “cross-over” at the Calexico border to offer a compassionate humanitarian response to families living there.

Clinic in Vietnam

We participate in the Reconciliation and Redemption in Vietnam by offering to help at Dr. Nhan’s Clinic by paying the yearly fee for a physical therapist who works with children who have been crippled through their parent’s exposure to agent orange. In this small way we are making recompense for the harm we have done to the people of Vietnam.

Dignity Moves, Santa Barbara

Beatitudes has participated in outfitting these rooms. This site provides 35 private, dignified rooms for individuals experiencing homelessness. Each room has a bed, a desk and chair, heating and air conditioning, a window, and most importantly a door that locks. The site has been thoughtfully designed by Gensler to create a welcoming community, foster a sense of belonging. The community also includes case manager offices, extensive dining and community spaces, a computer lab, pet area, community gardens, and ample storage for residents’ belongings.

Drivers Listos

Several of our members take part in this inter-faith program that provides rides to our immigrant neighbors who are fearful of driving themselves due to the activities of ICE. Examples of rides provided include driving a client to a medical appointment, to meetings with lawyers, legal aid, court appearances, etc. Volunteers will receive training from an attorney formerly with Legal Aid.

Transition House

We join volunteers to provide dinners at this emergency shelter in Santa Barbara.

Vandenburg

Our members join a peace group monthly that vigils at the gates of Vandenberg Space Force Base against nuclear weapons of mass destruction and to stop the militarization of space.
